An exciting opportunity has arisen for an appropriately experienced registered midwife with excellent leadership skills to join our senior midwifery team at University Hospitals Dorset.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership for the management of clinical and non-clinical risk, and serious untoward incident investigation processes within the maternity unit and external reporting.

You will be working closely with the Maternity Risk and Governance Manager, the Lead Obstetrician for Risk, the Clinical Director, the Senior Midwifery Management team and wider MDT in providing a co-ordinated approach to risk management within the maternity unit and the wider Trust.

We are looking for an excellent communicator with good organisational skills who works well as part of a team and is able to work in partnership across different professional groups.

The Maternity Service is currently based across two sites, delivers over 4500 women per annum and is the centre for high risk care across East Dorset. Based on the Poole site is the Central Delivery Suite which has 8 birthing rooms, 2 obstetric theatres, a 2 bedded Maternity HDU and 3 bedded recovery area. Adjacent to the Delivery Suite is a 5 bedded midwifery led unit. Our Outpatient and Community services are based across both Poole and Bournemouth sites.
