Join us at this very exciting time as Poole Hospital and Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals have just merged into the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

We have ambitious plans to develop our sites, making even better use of our combined resources to serve our population most effectively.

You will now be one of the first new employees of University Hospitals Dorset and you will be taking up the many opportunities that Dorset has to offer in the way of a rewarding work life balance.

We are located within an area of amazing beauty which includes opportunities to drive, walk,  run, swim or cycle in the New Forest , in the Purbecks, along miles of golden beaches and the Jurassic coastline.   Bournemouth is a vibrant university town with a wide selection of restaurants and cafes; theatres, cinemas and sporting activities and Poole attracts many visitors, has a large natural harbour and is perfect for water sports or relaxing at a quayside restaurant.

Transport links are excellent with Bournemouth International airport, Cross-channel ferry terminals at Poole and direct train access to London.

Please note all staff being recruited are expected to be available to work flexibly across our new Trust sites when service demands require it.

We currently have a vacancy for a Rotational Senior Pharmacy Assistant which will involve working in both the Aseptic Unit and the main Dispensary, as well as working on the wards.

The pharmacy services are well regarded in the Trust and recognised as a key element to any clinical development. The Pharmacy team is forward thinking; we embrace change and are constantly looking for ways to improve the service. We understand the importance of good team working and have strong links with other professions. The patient is at the centre of all that we do and our strategy is to provide a pharmacy service that has medicines optimisation at its heart. Providing our clinical service at ward level from pharmacy hubs lets us achieve this. Ward round attendance in various areas is well established and we are regarded as integral members of the team. We will be implementing EPMA (Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration) soon, so this will help us to improve the way that we work.

This is an exciting time for us as following the Dorset Clinical Services Review. We plan to develop into the Major Emergency Hospital for Dorset and will be welcoming Paediatrics and Maternity when they move across from Poole Hospital. In addition there will be a much larger Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit.

Why join us?

Our staff say; “We have a very friendly, welcoming and supportive workforce that helps each other even when we are up against it”, “The job is rewarding. I know my work makes a difference to patient care” and “Feel a sense of community – like everyone is looking out for you”.

The Health & Wellbeing of staff is high on the Trust’s agenda and there is plenty of support. There are opportunities for flexible working eg part-time roles. The NHS provides a good pension and annual leave and bank holiday allowance.

Dorset is a superb area to live. We have access to beautiful areas such as the New Forest and the Purbecks as well as our miles of golden beaches. Bournemouth has two universities and is a vibrant town with plenty of options for entertainment. Transport links are excellent with Bournemouth airport, ferry terminals at Poole and direct train access to London.

We have full-time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time hours available (job shares considered).

This role will require one late finish per week (closing at 5.30pm), weekend shifts 1 in 5 (either Saturday or Sunday) and approximately one Bank Holiday shift per year.
